Rich Car

As usual for Volkswagen, the new Passat also sets the standard in sustainability. All ten engines (77 kW / 105 PS via 220 kW / 300 PS) more fuel efficient – up to 18 percent more. The “smallest” and not torque-strong turbodiesel (1.6 TDI with 105 PS and 250 Nm) now consumes only 4.2 l/100 km, which is equivalent to 109 g / km of CO2.
Meanwhile, downsizing and technology such as system / Stop Starting contribute to exceptional fuel efficiency in gasoline-powered version. Pioneering here is (kW 90 / 122 PS) TSI 1.4, the version Bluemotion technology, consumes only 5.8 l/100 km. Value of CO2 equivalent is 138 g / km.

Design front-end provides a completely new Volkswagen Passat – now 1820 mm wide and 4769 mm (Estate: 4771 mm) long – a look more dominant. Although the car has not grown wide, it has a greater presence and more visual dynamism. The height of the second version of the body also remains constant (sedan: 1474 mm; Estate: 1519 mm).

Dominant expression of the VW Passat is strengthened with a new dual-reflector lamp with bi-xenon light source and optional LED daytime running lights. Each daytime running lights consisting of 15 LEDs. Under the lines formed by the lights and grill are part of the body-colored bumper. The next level down another sport air intake fins framed by chrome-plated – as stylistic elements similar to commercial aircraft wing tip. Very low profile fog lights integrated here. In line Highline equipment, other chrome trim strip in the center of the air intake fins joined. At the lowest level, there are spoilers ahead. As the car motorsport, it is designed as a divisor is called. From level Comfortline equipment, chrome trim strip is also applied here.

Volkswagen offers a choice of ten direct injection engine with four valves per cylinder in the new Passat. Four of them are classic high-tech petrol engine that outputs 90 kW / 122 PS (1.4 TSI), 118 kW / 160 PS (1.8 TSI), 155 kW / 211 PS (2.0 TSI) and 220 kW / 300 PS (V6). Over a six-cylinder engine, all other gasoline engines are charged four-cylinder engine. Also charged is the kW 110 / 150 PS engine (1.4 EcoFuel) that is configured for natural gas. Another derivative is from 1.4 TSI engine with 118 kW MultiFuel / 160 PS is designed for use with up to 85 percent fuel ethanol.
